4 Reasons Why You Should Meditate Every Day

When I started meditating, I had no idea how much my life would change. I was a persistent worrier, caught up in the past, and unable to shake the negative thought patterns that I had created. Coming to a point in my life, I had to make a decision on whether it was harder to continue down my negative path or make a choice to change my mindset and get mentally fit. I chose to get mentally fit because I wanted to live a healthy, balanced lifestyle and achieve my goals. I knew that in my current mindset and condition I was in no position to go after my purpose.

Meditation gives me the calm foundation for the beginning of my day, but it wasn’t always that way. When I first started meditating, I struggled with quieting my mind, and then I was introduced to guided meditation! If those nagging thoughts overwhelm your attempts to sit quietly and meditate, I highly suggest using guided meditation audios. In the first few minutes, which will seem a lot longer, your thoughts will still be present. Those thoughts will pass, and you are left with a clear mind to do whatever you want. You can work on manifesting your vision, practice your gratitude or use your time to be still.

Here are the main four reasons you need to meditate every day:

1. Meditation provides mental clarity

Meditation helps you by allowing you to cycle all of the thoughts out of your head, by acknowledging them and then letting them move on. Achieve relief from recognizing the clutter is there and then accept that those thoughts have run their course and it’s time for them to go. Having the negative thoughts is not what drives us crazy, it’s allowing those thoughts to take up residence in our minds. The only way to combat that is to continuously feed your mind positive thoughts that will translate into positive feelings and behaviors.

2. Meditation allows you time for yourself

During the time you are meditating you are doing something that is one hundred percent for you. This act of self-care is to attain and preserve the peaceful existence you desire in your daily life. When done in the morning, meditation will set the tone for your day. When situations and issues threaten that peace, break out a positive affirmation and say it to yourself as many times as you need to get back to the place of peace that aligns with the way you choose to live your life.

3. Meditation is way cheaper than a therapist

I believe in getting a mental health evaluation first and foremost; you want to make sure that you are safe and not having a crisis. After you have been evaluated and find out that you need to shift your mindset to improve your life, consider meditation. You could pay to have someone tell you how to eliminate your mental blocks or you can get aligned with the intentions you have over your life. Forgiveness of myself and others was a huge component of me being able to resolve my negative thoughts and feelings so that I could move on in a healthy way. For me, this process was quite lengthy because I started overcoming blocks I hadn’t yet discovered.

4. Meditation makes me a better mom

The patience, gratitude, and utter joy I feel for my life is overwhelming at times. Being able to clear my mind and drastically reduce the chatter allows me more time and energy to be present in my life and enjoy the good and bad moments. I can impose my calm and peaceful spirit onto my family, which makes us all more relaxed and able to appreciate each other’s company.
