Have you been to the doctor and been told that your chronic problems are caused by your genetics?
In modern society this is very common. And it’s true…
But it’s only half of the story…
Because the other half of the story changes it all. It’s called epigenetics.
Why You Are Not a Victim of Your DNA
In modern society, traditional doctors, claim that you're born with your DNA, which then gets replicated as RNA before being translated into a protein. In other words, they say, your fate is already written in your DNA.
However, for a moment, think about two identical twins. They are born with the same identical DNA. But if you look them closely they don’t look exactly the same.
Also, even more important, they don’t always develop the same diseases.
There must be something that takes into account these differences. And, in fact, there is. These modifications are known as epigenetic modifications.
Within each cell the DNA can be tagged by tiny chemicals that modify genes expression. These chemical tags cause some genes to be turned on and some genes to be turned off.
The true reason why we are losing our battle against chronic diseases is very simple. Our lives are out of balance: junk food, stress, pollution, prescription drugs, lack of rest.
For this reason, our internal system becomes extremely weak… And if we’re weak on the inside then parasites are going to proliferate in the body.
This environment wreaks havoc and is expressed through cell and DNA damage.
The problem is not that we have a faulty DNA, as traditional doctors want us to believe. It’s toxicity that alters the DNA.
This concept is very important because it means that if we manage to detoxify the body we can heal almost any “incurable” chronic disease.
“Within each of us there’s a spark that can light the way to health. There are no incurable diseases, only incurable people.” – Bernie Siegel, MD
The Role of Epigenetics in Our Life
We are all born with a DNA sequence which cannot be changed. This certainly has an effect on our life. But it doesn’t mean we have to remain stuck. We can change our destiny, if we decide to.
Thanks to epigenetics, we now know that our genetic code is like a blueprint that can be interpreted in millions of different ways.
Not only that, every epigenetic modification brings about lasting changes in gene expression. This also means that these altered genes can then be passed down to offspring, allowing the off-spring to express different characteristics.
Providing the right environment (good nutrients, positive thoughts, healthy relationships…), will turn on the genes needed for good health and turn off the genes that cause the disease.
In other words, the genes that can develop a disease are in our DNA but the choice to turn on those genes is completely controlled by the environment and lifestyle.
“We are not victims of our genes. We are masters of our own destiny.” – Lissa Rankin, MD
Steps to Reclaim Your Health
Natural healing is all about cleaning up and detoxifying the body in order to create the right environment for it to thrive. It requires time because of the toxins, parasites and damages to our cells accumulated in our entire life.
In general, there are 3 main areas of life that we need to harmonize, in order to thrive…
1. Nutrition & Lifestyle
What we put in our bodies really matters: make sure to eat nutrient dense food filled with vitamins and minerals. The main characteristic of nutrient dense food is that it must be in its natural state, without being processed and industrialized.
2. Emotional Health
Before the body can heal, we have to heal on an emotional level as well. We have to heal our mind and spirit. We have to find inner peace.
Start accepting yourself for who you are; let go of fear and make space for love.
3. Healthy Relationships
If you are on a path towards emotional healing, you will soon find out that it’s not just about yourself.
We are social creatures and we interact with other people. This also means that other people alter the equilibrium that we are trying so hardly to achieve.
Often, we modify our behavior, only to gain respect, approval and love from other people. Don’t do that. You don’t need external love or respect if this manipulates your true Self.
You instead need to have love for yourself and you already have that within you.
If I Loved Myself, What Would I Do?
In order to harmonize the 3 areas of life just discussed you certainly have to love yourself first, and then other things will follow.
But how do you love yourself if this doesn’t sound true to your brain?
Well, this is what I suggest: every time you have to make a decision, if you feel lost or you feel stuck, ask yourself this question…
“If I loved myself, what would I do?”
Then wait for an answer in the form of an intuition, a gut feeling, an emotion… And trust that your feelings will guide you on the path to self-love.
