I was sitting in the sun, thinking about the months ahead of me, and I realized that… my dreams have come true.
And it’s been a long time coming!
Years ago I had a vision for what my life could be like, and that vision was NOTHING like the life I was living at that time.
Back then I wondered (or more accurately, worried!) whether my vision would really be possible.
Getting Past Worry & Getting Started
I logically calculated that it WAS possible for a human being to create such a vision.
When I challenged my worries, I figured that I had as good a chance as anyone of achieving such a vision.
I reasoned that if I happened to be missing anything that I really needed (e.g. skills, resources, know-how), then I would deal with it at the time and find a way forward.
I’m pretty analytical, and I was very risk-averse back then, so it did take me quite awhile to come to that conclusion!
Basically I estimated it would take time, patience, hard work, support from the Universe, and probably some blood, sweat and tears along the way.
I was right. It took all of that!
The Dream I Had
Here’s the vision I had all those years ago…
- I wanted to work for myself, and from home
- I wanted to do meaningful, soul-aligned work that would make a difference in the world.
- I wanted to follow signs, follow my intuition, and do things I was passion about.
- I wanted to create a business where I could work when I wanted, wherever I wanted
- I wanted to travel the world and see, experience, taste, feel and soak up everything this life has to offer
- I wanted to feel free and be free, from the inside out
Slow But Surely, Dreams Come True
Today, after taking the morning off to do Crossfit, and hanging out with my beloved hubby and dog-child, facing an afternoon of doing some awesome creative work that I love, I realized my dreams really have come true.
In the months ahead, I’m so excited to be continuing our nomadic lifestyle journey – travelling, living and working my way Europe, Asia and New Zealand.
I actually sometimes can’t believe it, that I really created this.
I have to pinch myself!
And while there is SO much more I’d like to create, and more expansiveness I’m heading for (because it’s fun!) I took a moment today to really stop and acknowledge… that dreams do come true.
Even back at the very start, before I had put in all the years of effort to get myself here, I knew I was passionate about having a life filled with “pinch me” moments. That’s why I wrote my earlier first book, Pinch Me!
A “pinch me life” is a life filled with surprising and beautiful reminders of how incredible our Universe is in supporting us, how inherently miraculous we are in mind-body-soul, and how lucky we are to be alive (even with all the challenges that life brings).
How do Dreams Come True?
I can only speak for myself, but my dreams came about slowly, but surely, over many years. The results achieved were from committed step-by-step action.
And… there were also a few other interesting factors at play! 5 things in particular… things I know FOR SURE that helped me create the vision I had.
And I’d love to share them with you below, to support you, because these apply to ALL of us no matter what vision we have or what situation we’re in, to help our dreams come true.
1. Do what you do with PASSION
Or with love, or joy, or enthusiasm, or any type of positivity.
And ONLY do it with those vibes.
If you’re doing something you don’t have that feeling about, then either
- change what you’re doing or
- find a way to bring better vibes to the situation you’re in (dig deep, use gratitude, find meaning, purpose and beauty where you stand).
2. Do what you do to SERVE
It doesn’t matter what you spend your time doing, see your activities as being a service into the world in some way, beyond what you personally get from it.
Make it about more than just you.
The vibe of giving/contribution is where it’s at.
Life supports those who support life.
3. Do what you do for your own SATISFACTION
Paradoxically, while doing what you do to serve others, only do it for YOUR OWN SATISFACTION and forget caring about whether anyone else likes it or not!
You will never please everyone, you don’t need validation, and the whole point is that you’re happy and having fun.
If you listen to your intuition, and follow your natural passions and curiosities, you will blaze a trail and shine your light just as you were born to do.
4. Do what you do with CONSISTENCY
The ability to show up every day in your life, week after week, year after year, with the same courage, the same dedication, even on the days when you’re feeling like a hot mess and you don’t know what the heck you’re doing… well… it makes a difference!
Just show up!
There have been SO many times when I’ve been a complete and utter shambles on my journey – not knowing what to do next, or how to do something, or feeling afraid, or making mistakes, and NONE of it matters.
We’re all human! You just have to consistently care, and consistently be there, and consistently deliver in the general direction you want to go, and your life WILL unfold.
5. Exercise patience
That’s all, just exercise patience.
Remind yourself over and over again…
Patience grasshopper, patience.
I would LOVE you to leave me a comment below and tell me what your own dream is for the next phase of your life.
A dream shared is a dream expanded.
Let me hold positive energy for your vision too, in support of your journey.
