Slow Growth

It’s Okay To Grow Slowly

With the whole world at our fingertips, it’s easy to feel inadequate.

We want to be healthier, more successful, find our tribe, stay on trend, fulfill our purpose, and more. We see the strengths of everyone around us on their highlight reels of social media and think we need to be at the same level in every area. But those expectations of ourselves are far too high if we aren’t willing to be disappointed or reach burnout.

grow slowly

We must remind ourselves that it’s okay to grow slowly. In all honesty, sometimes slow progress is the kind of progress that sticks because, in the process, we have developed habits that last!

“It is better to take many small steps in the right direction than to make a great leap forward only to stumble backward.”

When we move forward slowly, we can learn with each step, make the changes necessary, and progress in a way that feels authentic and not full of pressure that doesn’t honor who we are.

Slow progress often means deeper instead of wider impact. If we are constantly trying to morph into perfect beings, we forget about the issues of the heart. We begin to care more about the numbers on the scale than a healthy view of our bodies. We begin to care more about spending money to earn success while forgetting about the debt we are collecting. And we find ourselves adding friends to our tribe without intentionally building deep, quality relationships.

A good harvest takes years of cultivating and pruning. So does developing the life you want for yourself!

So next time you feel you aren’t making quick enough progress, celebrate what progress you HAVE made, decide if you are honoring yourself with your methods of progress or if you are reaching burnout, and look forward with hope!

“Progress lies not in enhancing what is, but in advancing toward what will be.” –Khalil Gibran
